Diagnosis & Tests The underlying cause of a bleeding tendency should be diagnosed whenever possible.
Treatment & Prevention All investigated causes being absent, you should avoid large quantities of those supplements that reduce platelet aggregation and promote easier bleeding, especially when using any blood-thinning medication. Examples of these include: tocotrienols, fish oils, curcumin, gingko biloba, grapes and grape juice, testosterone, Coumadin, vitamin E over 300IU/day, vitamin B6 over 150-200mg per day, too many essentail fatty acids, garlic, taurine and gugulipids. Aspirin and some NSAIDS should be used with caution. |
